Nazarene Bible College and NewStart Combine

The Nazarene Bible College in beautiful Colorado Springs has developed a training program for NewStart leaders and those interested in starting strong, new churches.  A combination of campus and online courses makes it possible for the prospective NewStart church leader to learn new skills and develop plans necessary to launch a healthy new church.  Through four core courses and a NewStart assessment a student can earn a Certificate in NewStart Leadership within one year or work towards a Bachelor of Arts in Ministry degree.

Here is a list of upcoming classes scheduled for 2008-09:

  • OTR 2113 Leadership for New Churches (Fall B)
OTR 2123 Evangelism and Discipleship for New Churches (Winter B)
OTR 2113 Leadership for New Churches (Spring B)
OTR 1113 NewStart Orientation (Summer 09 Intensive)
OTR 2133 Forming a New Congregation (Summer 09 Intensive)

On-line College of New Church Knowledge enjoys early success

The College of New Church Knowledge, the latest in new church resources offered by the USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism Department, includes two courses so far: Starting Strong New Churches (101) and Finding Missional Entrepreneurs (104). The innovation offers key training in starting a strong new church to Nazarenes worldwide.

"I can't believe it!' has been the repeated response from the test group that completed the history-making on-line courses offered by the Church of the Nazarene and NewStart. NewStart is an intentional effort to equip and resource local congregations of the Church of the Nazarene to sponsor new churches.

"They have told us all along that the World Wide Web would make this kind of training possible,' said Bill M. Sullivan, USA/Canada Mission/Evangelism Department director. "Now it is a reality! I encourage everyone to take advantage of this 'ready-when-you-are' training.'

"We're delighted with how 'user friendly' the site can be,' added Jim Dorsey, NewStart coordinator, "but the best part is beyond all the technology, in the practical content.'
